The homogeneous ensemble of private houses with arcades, balconies, wrought-iron gates and internal courtyards represents an architectural style that is the most representative of this synthesis of various cultures crisscrossing in the Caribbean. The urban architectural complex of Plaza Vieja is represented by valuable colonial buildings from the XVII, XVIII and XIX and some examples of the early twentieth century. The plaza emerged in 1559 and was originally called Plaza Nueva (New Square). It was built as a popular alternative to Plaza de Armas, the military and government main center, the name changed when another important square emerged in town, the Plaza del Santo Cristo. In the eighteenth century the square was turned into a popular market, and was called Plaza del Mercado (Market Square) as Havana's commercial hub. In 1814 with the birth of the Mercado Nuevo (new market) in the Plaza del Cristo, the Old Square was renamed to differentiate it. The square has also been identified by other names such as Plaza Real, Mayor, Mercado, Fernando VII, Plaza of the Constitution, Park Juan Bruno Zaya and Park Julian Grimau. When making a reservation, the user will immediately pay a non-refundable deposit of 10% of the total price of the booking. The balance is payable to the establishment (normally upon arrival), in the preferred currency of the establishment and cash. We will make a solid reservation of the property when we receive the deposit. Your reservation is guaranteed for late arrival. Payment for incidental charges after check-out is accepted by cash only. CONFIRMATION Upon receipt the deposit from you, we will issue an instant automatic confirmation by E-mail. CANCELLATIONS All cancellations must be carried out 24 hours before the arrival date. Please note that this period starts 24 hours before the DATE of the arrival NOT THE ESTIMATED ARRIVAL TIME. In some cases, given different time zones, this could be up to 48 hours before the arrival date. Cancellations must be made via the link sent in the confirmation email, or directly with the establishment. In the event of a no-show OR a late cancellation the establishment has the right to charge the first night’s accommodation. All cancellations must be in writing by e-mail. After booking your property—2 easy steps: 1. Print your voucher; locate the voucher in your booking confirmation e-mail. 2. Take all vouchers with you. How to redeem your voucher(s): Reservation confirmations are required.
